Wire electrical discharge machining - Wire EDM

The state-of-the-art ROBOCUT α-C400iC machine, installed at our headquarters in Orzesze, Silesia, allows extremely precise wire EDM of parts with complex shapes and high dimensional requirements. Thanks to the use of the latest FANUC technology, we realise both single parts and series production with the highest accuracy.

Advantages of the service at Frezamet Bis

  • High accuracy - The machine ensures repeatability and precision, resulting in tighter tolerances and reduced material waste.
  • Possibility of geometrically complex elements - cutting of internal shapes, thin wires, at an angle of ± 30 °, optionally ± 45 °.
  • Wide range of materials and applications - from industrial moulds, dies and aerospace components to prototypes and specialised production.
  • Shorter lead times and efficiency - thanks to advanced automatic wire threading and process automation functions.
  • High surface quality and minimal deformation - The wire process does not generate high mechanical forces, which preserves the properties of the material.

Capabilities of the ROBOCUT α-C400iC

  • Maximum workpiece dimensions: 730 × 630 × 250 mm with a weight of up to 500 kg.
  • Taper cut: max. ± 30°/80 mm (optional ± 45°/40 mm) - which allows for angled cuts and the formation of angle runs.

What does it consist of?

Wire EDM is a modern method for precision machining of electrically conductive materials such as tool steel, aluminium, copper, brass, titanium or carbide. The process involves cutting the material using a thin, taut working wire (usually 0.10-0.30 mm in diameter) through which a high-voltage electric current is passed.

At the point where the wire comes close to the surface of the workpiece, the following occur electrical micro-dischargewhich locally melt and vapourise the material, without any contact between the tool and the workpiece. This makes the process pressure- and strain-freewhich is crucial for the production of thin, delicate or high-precision components.

Wire EDM makes it possible to carry out complex internal shapes, cones, holes, angled contours and workpieces with very tight tolerances. It is a solution particularly valued in the tooling, moulding and precision machine part manufacturing industries, where accuracy, repeatability and surface quality are important.
